However, Alex’s disappearance and Wills’ disappearance are only the tip of the iceberg. This story spans over 14 months and includes many twists.
The trailer to season 2 of BBC’s captivating series revealed the true fate. The title was “The Final Series.”
Baptiste creators Harry Williams & Jack Williams discussed the decision to end the show at a Q&A.
Harry shared that Harry had an idea about a trilogy after we had finished Baptiste series 1 and it was very exciting. “And then it was a thought. We didn’t ever want him to become another police officer.”
“I think we worried that it would become something. Do we suddenly make him another cop?”
“When it was written [season 2], we realized that if you did this, you wouldn’t get the chance to do another. It’s about doing right by the character.
Tchekykaryo, the actor who plays the role of Baptiste, expressed his desire for the role, saying that while the series ends, “I’m in great shape.”
Despite season 2 marking the end of the Baptiste series, the episode 6 finale leaves many threads hanging that could be picked up in a future spin-off.
That is because the terrorist group Gomorrah that attacked during season 2 is still at Large and has influence everywhere, even though Andras Jurszt is in prison.
Kamilla a Gomorrah-linked politician Kamilla has seen her approval ratings soar.
You could also continue this story by focusing your attention on Zsofia Arslan, a Hungarian officer who works in the department of corruption to stop Gomorrah.
Season 2 sees Julien Baptiste take a step back from crime-fighting and could be seen advising Zsofia in the future.
